VisionPro Dongle is not Working

Product: VisionPro
Platform: All Platforms

Full Description

I received a new dongle recently and even though I have plugged it in, VisionPro is still giving me licensing errors.

There are a few possibilities here:

  • Make sure that Windows is recognizing your dongle as a USB device and installing drivers.
    1. The dongle should show up under USB devices on your system.
    2. The Cognex Drives package must be installed for the dongle drivers to be installed properly. This package is a part of the VisionPro installation.
  • If this is an evaluation dongle it may need to be activated.
    1. Open a command prompt on your PC and issue the following command to see if your dongle is recognized:

      cogtool -p
    2. If the dongle is recognized, but it is not activated you can activate it by issuing the following command:

      cogtool -b 0 --activate
  • If the cogtool output from above does not detect the Cognex Security Service, then you may need to run that. If you go to the Administrative Tools > Services in the Control Panel on your PC, you can confirm if the Cognex Security Service is installed and running. If it is not running, make sure that it is.

If your Cognex Security Service is missing, or these steps do not resolve your issue, please contact Cognex Technical Support for more help.
